Q: Where did you come up with the name Da Kind Soups?
A: Multiple Choice Answer - pick the one you like best!

The True Answer:

The "D" stands for Dustin. The "A" is for Ariane. French Chef Louis P. de Gouy was quoted as saying, "Soup is cuisine's kindest course". In designing our restaurant we wanted to make it the type of place we would frequent if it weren't already ours. A place where the food is consistently delicious, the prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and professional and it feels good to be there. So the name Da Kind Soups is our way of saying "Dustin and Ariane Spreading Kindness with Soup.".

The Dictionary Answer:

adjective, nonstandard spelling of the, used in representing informal speech.

noun, a natural grouping of similar things that is also frequently associated with something good or genuine as in "the best"

noun, a liquid food typically prepared with a meat, fish, or vegetable stock as a base and often containing pieces of solid food. So Da Kind Soups is another way of saying "The best type of liquid food".

The Hawaiian Answer:
"Da kine" is a word in Hawaiian Pidgin that usually functions grammatically as a placeholder name (compare to English "whatsit" and "whatchamacallit"), but can also take the role of a verb, adjective, or adverb. Ariane visited Hawaii once while in college, Dustin has never been, but we think our soup is Da Kine you'll like anywhere.

The German Answer:
We're often asked if our name is pronounced with a German accent (Da-Keened) because das kind is German for the child. We pronounce it Da Kind, as in "It's Da Kind you'll like". But hey, we have two children, so you bet, whatever you want it to be.
